Planning your photo session is exciting—but figuring out what to wear? That can feel overwhelming. I’m here to make it simple.
Over the years, I’ve found that the right wardrobe can make a huge difference in how your photos look and feel. Whether it’s a family session, engagement, or lifestyle newborn shoot, your clothing helps set the tone for the entire experience. That’s why I created this Wardrobe Guide—to help you feel confident, comfortable, and effortlessly styled.
Colors like cream, beige, olive, rust, terracotta, sage, and soft pastels photograph beautifully in natural light. They create a timeless and cohesive look without pulling focus away from you. Avoid overly bright neons or super dark blacks, which can be harsh in photos.
Gone are the days of everyone in jeans and white shirts. Instead, aim for colors that complement each other. Choose a general palette (like warm neutrals or cool tones) and mix textures, patterns, and layers within that range. Think flowy dresses paired with cozy knits or linen shirts beside soft denim.
Clothing with texture—like knits, lace, corduroy, or linen—adds depth to your images. Flowy dresses or skirts catch the wind in dreamy ways, and layering with cardigans, jackets, or shawls adds both visual interest and flexibility during your shoot.
Choose outfits that feel like you—and that let you move freely, snuggle up, or play with your kids without tugging or adjusting. When you’re comfortable, your confidence shines, and that’s what creates magic in your photos.
While subtle prints and soft florals can be beautiful, avoid bold stripes, heavy patterns, or large logos that pull the eye away from your connection and emotion. Simple, timeless pieces photograph best.
Whether we’re running barefoot through a field or cozying up at home for a lifestyle newborn session, your wardrobe should match the vibe. Think boots and long sleeves for fall, or soft layers and bare feet for summer.
For Her: Flowy maxi dresses, boots or barefoot, textured sweaters
For Him: Henleys, button-downs, neutral-toned pants or jeans
For Kids: Simple, soft clothing that they can move in (avoid anything with characters or neon colors!)
For Newborns: Neutral onesies, swaddles, cozy textures
When you book a session, you’ll receive access to my full Wardrobe Guide, complete with visual examples, color palettes, and suggestions for the whole family. I’m always happy to review outfit choices or offer input—just send me photos of your options!
Your session should feel like a reflection of who you are—not a stressful fashion show. Let’s make it simple, intentional, and you.
